Good to Great to Gone: How to Innovate your Business to Stay Relevant

“No army can withstand the strength of an idea whose time has come”

-Victor Hugo

Join renowned, international speaker Dr Gavin Symanowitz as he discusses the science behind innovative thinking and how you, as a South African business leader, can transform your own company by using the practice of thinking differently.

The recipient of numerous global Innovation Awards, Gavin will discuss how to stay relevant in an increasingly competitive world by translating ideas into business tactics.

Aligned to this theme, FlowCentric Technologies will elaborate on the Innovation Hub, an exciting concept that will assist you in moving from Ideation to Shop Floor in your own business.

Gavin Symanowitz, an actuary, headed up Strategic Product Innovation for Investments at First National Bank (recently recognized as the World’s Most Innovative Bank) for over five years. He won the prestigious Innovator of the Year award in 2008, and subsequently left the bank to found a number of revolutionary web-based businesses. One of these, FeedbackRocket (formerly GetAGreatBoss) was recognized as one of the 10 Most Promsing Digital Innovations world-wide, by Netexplorateur, an international organization set up under the auspices of the French Government Ministry for the Digital Economy.

Gavin looks at the problem of success and why it leads to complacency, why successful companies hold onto the status quo, and fail to embrace the big changes that are sometimes necessary. We look at how disruptive innovation happens and the risk of your company getting left behind. And most importantly, we explore what your company can do about it, using simple and effective approaches and tools to change the thinking in your organization, and take it to the next level.

Epicor proves that they are more than just business inspired

The pristine Modderfontein Nature Reserve played host to the first ever Epicor 4x4x2 family day held on Saturday 15 August. Over 200 customers and partners enjoyed the action packed day out with family and friends. With temperatures in the late twenties, it could not have been a better Johannesburg winter’s day. Guests spent the day enjoying exclusive use of secure trails designed for running, walking, cycling or simply taking in the open space and fresh air.

Since the day was all about showing that Epicor is not just business inspired, it’s also  lifestyle inspired, guests were encouraged to sample the newest cycling and off-road gear.  The Complete Cyclist team was on hand to give professional advice to avid cyclists interested in testing new bikes.  While the Land Rover Experience team had their vehicles ready for those wanting to put them through their paces on the Terapod.

The day’s events were coordinated under the watchful eye of the ever energetic master of ceremonies , Warrior Rick known for his motivating inserts at the Warrior Races. The crowd was entertained by the musical genius of Jacques Lagesse  while they enjoyed a cold beer along with some delicious food as the afternoon sunk away. And for those who needed it, there was a professional physiotherapist on hand to help mend any aches and pains.

The concept of hosting the 4x4x2 lifestyle day came from a similar event held by cycling group, Complete Cyclist. As the popularity of cycling grows, it is fast replacing golf because of its family appeal. Rather than hosting a golf day, this family orientated event supported the move towards having a true work life balance, made possible by tools like Epicor ERP that helps people to work smarter rather than harder.

Located off Aberdeen Rd in Modderfontein, the Modderfontein Nature Reserve not only protects indigenous fauna and flora , it offers unspoilt open space within the urban fabric where visitors can come and enjoy its natural beauty without travelling too far from home.

The 275-hectare private park is the second-largest private park in Gauteng and includes portions of the Modderfontein Spruit, a number of dams, grassland and hills.

The Reserve is operated by the Endangered Wildlife Trust on behalf of Heartland Properties. The Modderfontein Conservation Society have had input into the area for many years now and are assisting with the establishment of the reserve.
